The festival first started in 1981 and the current capacity is more than 40,000 people. Most of the music performances usually take place near Watergate Bay (north of Newquay). Fistral Beach is where Men's Pro 5 Star WQS surf competition will take place.

This is the place where you will also find a skate ramp made for BMX and skateboard competitions. The music performances will go across seven music stages – VIP Bar/Stage, The Main Stage, The View, Keg & Pasty, The Point, Unleashed, and Mavericks.
